You may have already heard the story, but in case you haven’t… Natasha was obviously very keen to join us as she decided to arrive 3 weeks and 2 days early. Marina was enjoying her last day of work (last day of Term 3). She had just dismissed her class to lunch and was heading to the staff room when her waters broke – quite a surprise when you’re still planning all the things that need to be done in your three-week holiday!!
One of Marina’s colleagues drove her briskly to the hospital and Josh called ‘Mum’s taxi’ for a quick trip too. The doctor arrived and suggested that it might be necessary to induce the baby in a couple of hours… but a couple of hours later all was going well, and with less fuss (and pain) than Marina was expecting, Natasha Jane Blythe arrived at 11.24pm on 23rd September.
Marina now holds a record at work, she’s not the first to go into labour at school, but is the first to go into labour and produce the baby before the end of the day!!
Natasha spent a couple of days in special care, there wasn’t anything wrong, but as she was officially premature (only by 2 days!!) they took her to special care. This meant a better room for Marina and an extra day in hospital – both bonuses when you weren’t really expecting to be there!
